10.03.2010 Building Capacity in the New ‘European' School of Entrepreneurship
Written by Oliver Hirsch Friday, 09 April 2010 15:31
KITE (Knowledge Innovation, Technology and Enterprise centre) and the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship will deliver a two day workshop event at Newcastle University, which aims to provide an informal environment for ideas and research to discuss the emergence of a new ‘European' school of entrepreneurship. In addition the workshop will promote pluralism and convergence rather than separation between the dominant school and the new European School.
The workshop will explore the tensions and differences between the schools and how to further integrate European perspectives more centrally into dominant entrepreneurship debates. The workshop will thus provide a meeting space for key participants to build on earlier conversations, and create more of a tangible international community.

08.02.2010 European SME Week 2010 starts 25 May
Written by Oliver Hirsch Friday, 09 April 2010 14:22
European SME Week 2010, which will take place from 25 May to 1 June, aims to:
- provide information on what the EU and national, regional and local authorities are offering as support to micro, small and medium-sized businesses;
- promote entrepreneurship so that more people, and in particular younger ones, seriously consider becoming an entrepreneur as a career option;
- give recognition to entrepreneurs for their contribution to Europe's welfare, jobs, innovation and competitiveness.
Launched in 2009, the European SME Week is coordinated by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry as one of the measures implementing Principle 1 of the Small Business Act for Europe (SBA) , which states that "the EU and Member States should create an environment within which entrepreneurs and family businesses can thrive and entrepreneurship is rewarded".
