MIK is the management research centre of Mondragon (MCC), http://www.mondragon.mcc.es, which is the leading Industrial Group in the Basque Country, 7th in the ranking in Spain and the biggest industrial co-operative experience in the world, constituting a phenomenon which has attracted an important bulk of research given its special characteristics. It currently consists in more than 150 enterprises employing more than 100.000 workers, combining the use of democratic methods in its organisation with special emphasis on job creation, the promotion of its workers in human and professional terms and a commitment to the development of its social environment.

MIK has been established as a Centre of Excellence for the group and it is member of the Basque Country's Network of Science, Technology and Innovation. MIK intends to contribute to the competitiveness of firms and society in general, by developing sound research and test projects about advanced management theories, techniques and new organisational forms based on knowledge and innovation. MIK is oriented to the applicability of research and takes advantage of the important practical knowledge created in the companies. For that purpose, MIK works in close collaboration with large companies and SMEs, local-public authorities such as The Basque Government, regional governments, chambers of commerce, local development agencies, social entities etc.

MIK currently occupies 15 full time researchers educated on different social, economic and engineering fields.
